13th March 2026 is a Risto za Nai holiday! After months of preparation, we finally put jembe to ground in a groundbreaking event to finally begin the restoration work at Small Axe Riparian park in Clay City, Kasarani. Well, that’s technically. In reality it is the people of Githurai, which officially falls within Kiambu County, who have been working to protect this little strip of green space for about 15 years!
In June 2025, Risto za Nai facilitated a Human Centred Design meet at the park where residents & users designed a park of their dreams. What then followed was months of consultation with our landscape architect to come up with a map that would guide the transformation.
We are finally ready to give Small Axe Riparian Park its long overdue facelift, and of course bring you the stories of the resilient men and women who have been part of this story from the very start!
